Travel to Puerto Vallarta

20th of September 2017

By plane

Travel with ease to Puerto Vallarta by taking plane. You’ll find yourself landing at the Gustavo Diaz Ordaz International Airport (IATA: PVR) located in between Puerto Vallarta and Nuevo Vallarta. There are US airlines serving the airport together with Aeromexico. The airport has been remodeled to facilitate better service but there still are instances that more than two flights land so some airlines may need to wait. You can take buses bound for the city if you happen to pack lightly.

By private transportation

Puerto Vallarta also has pre-arranged transportation fom the airport to the hotel where you’re booked. All you  need to do is contact a private transport company by phone or online to make necessary arrangements.

By car

Driving by car is also an option since there are modern and nicely maintained toll roads all the way from the border. You may not have luck on the condition of other roads but they still are suitable for the drive.

By boat

Day trips from the Marina is not a problem since there are a lot of party boats that leave its coast and some have stops in various beaches. You can also go horsebackriding and visit a waterfall south of Puerto Vallarta. Cruise ships loaded with tourists from the US and Europe dock in the city’s main port for a day.

By bus

North of the airport is the main bus station. This is a bit far to the north of town. If you want to go to the city, you need to take a local bus or taxi. You can catch a bus by going through the bus station exit and walking across the parking area. City buses stop at a corner to your right. Buses you see there can take you all the way down to the “Romantic Zone” which costs 5.50 pesos fo0r the half-hour drive. Taking the bus is an opportune time to mingle with the locals and to get a good view of the town.
